1. My Wordpress blog is dead. 2. During college I got used to sending people IMs consisting of links to thing I found interesting on the internet. I'd send them to certain people depending on the topic and also depending on whether the person was online. Since we were all in college we were pretty much always online. However, now that I've graduated and many of my friends have too, I've decided to sign up to Twitter for divulging interesting links. Check it out.
I've decided to start another blog which will be far less journal-like.
At first, LiveJournal was fun. Then, I remembered how I hate talking about myself in this form. After some ups and downs but an overall downfall I kept LiveJournal around because of its RSS reading functionality (aka: the friends page). I milked that feature for all it's worth and was frequently dissapointed that I couldn't add my own feeds (and there's no way I was going to pay for it). Most of the time someone who does pay for LJ would have added an RSS feed that I wanted so I could usually get them, however it was a great hassle. So I've switched to Google Reader which has matured LOTS in the time that it's been public. I still look at my friends page from time to time because I haven't figured out how to view private LJ posts in Google Reader. But, for the most part, LJ is dead to me.
Here's to the new year!
Trippy. Deviant Art is one of the great places on the internet. Wed, May. 17th, 2006, 10:03 pm Finally!
I've been working on getting a better Minesweeper score for a while. Well, approximately one minute ago I got 103! My laptop screen hasn't been working for about a year and since I'm going to southeast asia I'm going to finally send it to Sony to get fixed (after falsely diagnosing it twice). Because of my new Minesweeper score, I'm really worried they might wipe my hard drive for no reason. (There's definitly no reason for them to mess with my hard drive, they better not) Tue, Jan. 31st, 2006, 09:22 am I Understand
The new Real Life has a comic that I can relate to very well, indeed. Fri, Jan. 6th, 2006, 02:59 pm Amazing
Stargate has gotten two US Airforce Generals to cameo on the show so far. Apparently, "The Air Force reviews the script for every "Stargate: SG-1" episode, and suggests necessary changes...". That's so cool. Also apparently, the US Airforce honored Richard Dean Anderson for his fine work with the Stargate Series. That's so cool. It's no wonder that Stargate SG-1 is one of the only science fiction shows of which I can believe in the world, the characters and environment, created. They put a lot of effort into making sure things stay consistent both internally and, for all we know, in reality.
Ok, I totally want to go on a tour of King Ludwig's Castles and the Bavarian Lakes! It's just under $2000 USD and has A LOT of things included (except airfare ::sad face::). Happens this summer. My immediate family has been unhappy with me lately for my lack of asking for Christmas and birthday presents. Perhaps I will ask for the airfare as a combined present. I don't know what my job prospects look like this summer. Since I don't think I can get a job in Asia this summer because of not being a college graduate yet and I think passports need to be 6 months mature before being able to obtain the necessary work visa (mine is expired and I haven't gotten a new one yet), I may either work at Cheshire Academy again in which case I could only go on the tour starting on June 9th (very remote possibility of June 24th) or I may work with my Uncle Dave, the CEO of a Cable TV provider in Texas (I haven't talked to him about it yet but when my Aunt was tipsy at thanksgiving she made a big deal about it and wanted me to), in which case I don't know which week would be optimal. ... Decisions, decisions... I have two requests: one, advice on what to do; two, I would like a friend(s) to go with me because experiencing an important dream of mine (seeing castles--one of my favourite (if not favourite) structures; and not only that, but European castles (my favourite kinds of castles); and not only that, but castles built by the king who built my favourite castle; and not only that, but the castle that is my favourite castle!) with someone or many whom are important to me would make it all the more special and exciting (unfortunately, it does cost a lot).
Why do so many people think that outsourcing is bad? Apparently, they've not heard of competative advantage. I think My Outsourced Life shows how not only coorperations but also individuals can increase productivity, efficiency and the quality of their life by hiring others.
These are from the first air-cooled radial engine made in 1921 by the lawrance wright company. LWC was contracted by both the US Army and Navy and their J-1 engine used the cylinder at left. It was the best American air-cooled engine at the time and passed its 50-hour test in 1922. A nice history can be found at www.enginehistory.org where the picture is also from. One of the really cool things it mentions is that the cylinder I posess was the direct predecessor of the J-5 which propelled Charles A. Lindbergh on a non-stop from New York to Paris. Thanks to fe_naughty for doing the extra research.
Somehow my grade in Fourier went from a C+ to a B+ even though I know i didn't get that much correct on the final (although, in speculative retrospect, i must have written more correctness down for the last two problems than other people)...perhaps it was (also) because I wrote a lot of extra stuff about the theory while going step by step through the problems instead of just copying his solutions verbatum (the first three problems were directly from the midterm which everyone put on their cheat sheet).
So i guess he recognized that i actually understand the stuff and so noticed that i had made stupid mistakes previously that brought me down and so was generous in raising me up.
Much to my surprise I was able to pull off a B+ in Classical Mechanics. The e-mail started out with First let me give you the good and the bad news. As most of you deduced, Bob and Seth were left oscillating about a stable position on either side of the hole through the roof of Wilson Commons until rescued by the Fire Department. The bad news is that Mario would have been toast; I estimate that the loss in kinetic energy in the collision would have incinerated the wreckage at 7 1012 K! I suggest that you look carefully where you are walking or driving. Fortunately Seth and Mario are flying commercially to England and Australia respectively for next term. This is in reference to two different questions from the test all characters of whom are classmates. The first was a problem dealing with Lagrange-Hamiltonian dynamics and, in the second, Mario was travaling about .9 the speed of light in a rocket before crashing into a truck (because he was waving to his friends on the ground). Cline might not be the best teacher but he's a great guy. Tue, Dec. 6th, 2005, 03:30 am This just in
The Stargate Project is real. Hehe, if I were president the first thing I would do is say "Tell me about aliens.". Wed, Oct. 26th, 2005, 02:28 am Boo Ya
I just swept all mines on expert level in 107 seconds! Time for bed.
I just realized that most people who are against outsourcing are not against governmental appropriation of resources to foreign lands.
Why is it bad for the American People if a company decides to put some of its own income into a foreign land, but it is, at the least, neutral to the American People when the government puts some of the everyone's income into a foreign land?
Just beat Call of Duty. It was a good game except for a few really stupid levels. I enjoyed it though it doesn't have the replay value, for me, that Halo does. Only a normal difficulty run for this one. Actually, from my Halo playing, normal mode was pretty easy. Sure, I had some hard times, but playing this game my first time is nothing compared to how bad I did when playing Halo the first time. Thanks to playing Halo through Legendary I feel fairly confident in my FPS for the PC skills. Maybe I'll go to the second highest level of difficulty from the beginning for the next FPS I decide to play.
On different feeling note, I went outside at 1AM and sat on the swingy chair thing which is in the woods now instead of the yard. It was a good night for it. Overcast, dark, not hot, not many bugs, and a green laser (!) made my relaxation time a very nice time indeed.
Besides missing all the people from summer school (all the pics will be uploaded somewhere at sometime) and regular (college) school, my summer is going great. I have my contacts back in, I'm going to Maine (finally, I will have visited all New England states) this weekend, one of the chinese girls from summer school is going to hook me up with her middle school chinese textbook (i'm not ready to learn from it, but i will be someday), going to the beach again, and will get a hair cut next week. Yeah, things are going well.
I can't wait to start up school again. I predict some sort of milestone for my life will happen and if not, at least some really interesting things that change my life for the better (I can always count on those).
Some of the greatest things I ever thought I could hear about a person were said to me to-day.
I enjoyed working at my job this summer more than I ever have before not only because of the things I got to do but because of the people who did them with me. Hearing those things about me said by people such as them, it just makes me so incredibly happy and tells me that, without a doubt, I am on a great road for myself and that I'm making the right choices along the way.
Thank you to everyone I worked with this summer, both employees and students! My life is so much better because of you.
I love my life. |
